Sampoerna Academy enters Mentari Books’ English Competition

Sampoerna Academy’s primary students recently practised their talents in the much-anticipated English competition organized by Mentari Books. This year, the theme, “My Future Dreams,” inspired young students to envision and express their aspirations creatively.

For grades 1 to 3, students created simple yet meaningful artwork reflecting their dreams and explained their creations in a 1-3 minute video. Rohan from 1A, Qimberly from 1B, and Aarzen from 3B proudly represented their grades. Rohan discussed his passion for football while Qimberly shared her inspiring dream of becoming a pediatric doctor, noting the shortage of medical professionals and her wish to take care of children around the world. Aarzen impressed everyone with a heartfelt video about his passion for saving the planet and his deep love for animals.

Meanwhile, students from grades 4 to 5 participated by making poems based on the theme and complementing their work with a 1-3 minute video. The students used vivid language and expressions to bring their future dreams to life. Gyurim, a talented Grade 4 student, crafted an inspiring poem about her future dreams, skillfully incorporating a variety of poetic devices.

These weren’t the only students who entered — many other students also joined the competition, each bringing unique ideas and creativity. Every participant deserves recognition for their creativity and hard work.

Competitions like these provide an invaluable opportunity for students to grow. They encourage imagination, allowing children to create work they can take pride in. Beyond enhancing writing and artistic skills, such contests help students build confidence in speaking English and improve their public speaking abilities.

A big congratulations to all the students who participated! Your efforts have made Sampoerna Academy proud. To everyone else, consider joining next year’s exciting Mentari Books competition. Who knows? You might discover a new talent!
